Even now the old citizens are calling our complex ТThe balloonУ. 50 years ago on the place of the complex there was only one pool whit a balloon over it.

The swimming complex Spartak was built in 1968. By this time at that place there was a dung-hill. It was built only for several months and open for the national swimming competition same year. In 1976 the complex was expanded with a hotel and special medical sport department. The complex is used for training of the Bulgarian national talents. The complex is renovated one more time in 1985 for the European swimming championship.

Nowadays Spartak is one of the most respective sport centers in the country after Sparta acquires assets of Spartak and invested over 1 500 000 Euro.

Many great Bulgarian athletes have started their career paths in Spartak. And a lot are still training here.
